Introduction to the course:

This course is aimed at anyone who is wishing to have a change in their career path. The course gives a general overview of the solid fuel industry.

The course consists of one day training and assessment.

Course content:

  • Fuel types, Storage & Selection.
  • Principles of Combustion.
  • Causes of Incomplete Combustion & Carbon Monoxide Poisoning.
  • Appliance types, Operating Principles & Selection.
  • Legislation, Regulations & Industry guidance.

What next:

Produce a portfolio of work experience by installing 3 dry stoves signed off by a HETAS Registered Engineer or Local Authority Building Control. Or attend Surefire Training services and complete our bespoke SF courses:

SF1 – Open Fire Installation.

SF2 – Stove Installation.

SF3 – Flexible flue liner.

Then attend H003DS – Dry Installer Course.

How the course is assessed:

Multiple choice and desk based activity question papers; open book examination 100% to pass. Two attempts must get 80% or more for second attempt.
